Volt-Amps Reactive (VAR) is the measuring unit for reactive power which is created by energising transformers and powering motors, pumps, and other similar electrical devices. The installation of additional capacitor banks at existing grid stations alongside capacitors at new grids is being planned, in order to have compensation for VAR requirement of network/load centers which would also help manage the power factor, quality as per the grid code, prudent utility practices, and reduction in transmission losses.
